UCL runs an open competition for blockchain research papers open to students and also to other authors (e.g. from startups). http://www.coindesk.com/press-releases/blockchain-security-student-paper-thesis-competition/ Submissions are open until 15 October. Cash prizes will be awarded and winners will be allowed to present their work at an international blockchain conference.
