Bitcoin Blood in the Streets and Why This Looks Familiar

February 7, 2026

Show Notes

Matthew pushes back hard on claims that the four year cycle is dead. Reviewing prior cycles from 2013, 2017, and 2022, he shows that 50 to 60 percent drawdowns over short windows are normal and that prolonged year long crashes are becoming harder to justify given current structure and Wall Street involvement. Bitcoin has already returned to its prior cycle peak in dollar terms far faster than in past downturns. He highlights key accumulation zones, noting that the 20th percentile around 57,000 dollars has been touched in every cycle. While further downside is possible, probabilities now favor accumulation rather than fear. Relative valuation reinforces this view. Bitcoin sits near historic lows when priced in gold and silver, with silver nearly 90 percent discounted to its trend. The episode closes with a broader lens. Paper leverage can move price short term, but fundamentals, throughput, and network capability remain intact. Patience and probability remain the edge.
