Bitchat is a new peer-to-peer messaging app vibe-coded by Jack Dorsey. It uses Bluetooth mesh networking to let people communicate directly: no servers, no accounts, no centralized control. With its minimalist design, instant onboarding, and ephemeral identities, BitChat has already been adopted in real-world situations like mass protests where privacy and resilience matter. This talk introduces Bitchat’s core principles, from zero-click setup to Nostr-based identity handshakes, explores its design opportunities and challenges, and looks at future possibilities like Bitcoin payments and peer-to-peer exchanges. A glimpse into what communication can look like when it’s local, anonymous, and entirely decentralized.
