Bitcoin timelocks are a core primitive (i.e., Lightning relies on them), but they rarely show up in consumer products. In this clip, Steve Lee walks through Lockbox - a vibe-coded, mainnet demo from Mat Balez that lets you gift bitcoin by email and time-lock it. The recipient generates keys client-side, the sender funds a timelocked transaction, and the bitcoin can’t be spent until the lock expires. They also dig into what it would take to make this real (security hardening, audits, sane limits and gift sizing), why a “reminder + education” layer matters for non-coiners, and how this primitive could expand into baby bonds, timelocked donations/endowments, and other products built on top. https://bitcoinlockbox.xyz/ Timestamps 0:00 - Product walkthrough: timelocked bitcoin gifts by email 04:13 - Keeping recipients engaged: reminders + self-custody basics 06:03 - Making it a real product: security, limits, and gift sizing 10:25 - Other products using the timelock primitive 11:35 - Why it matters: distribution, margins, baby bonds, and donations 🎧 From the PBJ podcast recorded at 📍Presidio Bitcoin 🔗 Full episode: https://youtube.com/live/_5WG0yIa8Pc?feature=share 🌐 Learn more: https://www.presidiobitcoin.org/
